I arrived in Lusaka, Zambia on September 1st, 2014. I am serving as assistant to the Field Strategy Coordinator for the Church of the Nazarene, Africa South East Field. Rev. Paul Mtambo oversees the Nazarene mission and vision for the countries of Zambia, Malawi, and Zimbabwe.
There are numerous ministries; a bible college, churches and outreach programs, Children’s Compassion, Jesus Film, planting new churches and preaching points, fresh water wells, construction, HIV and AIDS ministries, food and agricultural, church discipleship programs, motorbike program for rural pastors, financial stability programs, training of pastors and Christian leaders and many, many more. Some of the churches have large congregations and some in the far rural areas are only a handful of people, most churches share a pastor with other congregations. Many Christians are first generation Christians.
Nearly all these Christian leaders and pastors serve in volunteer positions. With needs so great I greatly admire these gifted leaders and the hard decisions they must make.
I love the people, the culture and am honored to have been called to serve within this great ministry. For 40 years I have felt God calling my heart to Africa, to finally be here is both amazing and humbling.

Thank you for your interest. May the Lord keep you safely in the palm of His hand and may He bless you abundantly in all things,
I love praying and remembering each day, every month, my partners in prayer. Would you like to be a prayer partner one day each month as I also remember you in prayer? Pick a date that is memorable to you and I will try to email you a day or two before for prayer requests. Thank you.
How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!
I invite you to partner with me by supporting this ministry. New supporters are needed to replace those who have already given for a year’s commitment. Ask the Lord if he would use you in this ministry. Even a small amount each month makes such a difference for me. Yearly and one time gifts are also greatly appreciated as these are usually used for car repair and travel to far areas on the field.
“How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!” Romans 10:14-15
Thank you, Grace Shelby
