We are the Graham family. Jaron, Elizabeth and Quentin. On May 9, 2015, we received an unexpected phone call. The voice on the other end of the line asked if we would ever consider serving as pastors and missionaries in New Zealand. Our immediate response was shock. But as that began to wear off we started to discern the voice of God. Over the course of the next few weeks God captured our imagination about serving in a place located literally on the other side of the world.
So we went to the Lord in prayer. We asked questions of God: "Why us? What about all the things we are involved in here? What about our church and community? Who will care for them?" As we prayed and questioned we felt ourselves gripped by a certainty of purpose. God was calling us. The words of Jesus from Luke chapter 9 verse 59 rang in our heads "follow me." We knew beyond doubt that this was what we were called to. Less than two weeks later we accepted the call.
Today we are preparing for the journey, which will begin in December 2015. We are excited and nervous. We eagerly anticipate the journey God has called us to, and we have begun to say goodby to the people in our church and community that we love dearly. What a blessing it is to hear the words "follow me" and to respond in obedience.
