The Church of the Nazarene’s 27th General Assembly & Conventions is just around the corner, and promises to be one for the record books! For the first time in our church’s history the majority of this elected body will likely be made up of representatives from outside the United States and Canada. Many of our USA/Canada delegates and guests are beginning to plan their trip to Orlando—booking airline tickets, making hotel reservations, and setting aside a few extra dollars to visit area attractions. For those who are traveling to Orlando from other world areas, the process is much more complicated. Most non-USA/Canada delegates are required by law to obtain a visa for entrance into our country, which is not always a convenient task. Many times these delegates travel hundreds of miles, wait countless hours in lines, and often spend more than a year’s salary to simply obtain the required travel documents—which are not always granted at the first request, if at all.As the face of the Church of the Nazarene becomes increasingly global, the presence of these international voices is absolutely necessary when discussing the important issues that are brought before the General Assembly & Conventions. The Church of the Nazarene International Delegate Expense Aid (IDEA) Fund was created to provide financial assistance for our world area delegates who incur such great financial costs to be a part of the global celebration. Donations will be accepted through June 1, 2009 and can be mailed directly to the Church of the Nazarene Global Ministry Center (see contact information below). Please consider joining us in sharing our resources with our brothers and sisters in Christ all over the globe!

Prayer Journey
1 Thessalonians 5:17 instructs us as followers of Christ to “pray continually…”, and that is what we intend to do in the days leading up to and for the duration of the General Assembly & Conventions. Intentional prayer opportunities will be available in many different forms, and it is our hope that each attendee will find an opportunity that encourages them to approach our Lord in prayer.
More opportunities will be added soon. Be My Guest

Learn more… Help Fight the General Assembly Chill
You might be thinking to yourself, “Isn’t General Assembly in Orlando…in the summer? Who could possibly be chilly?” The answer is, many of our international delegates! The majority of our brothers and sisters who attend General Assembly & Conventions from outside of the USA are not accustomed to air conditioning and, as a result, remain very uncomfortable during the meetings and services.Whether you are planning to attend the 27th General Assembly & Conventions or not, we need your help collecting new or like-new shawls to be given to our international guests to use while in Orlando to keep warm in the convention center. Our goal is to collect 400-500 pieces, which means we all need to chip in to gather enough! This would be a great project for a Sunday School class, a youth group, or an entire congregation to participate in! At the same time, no donation is too small! If you knit, sew or crochet, a homemade shawl would be perfect! All we ask is that each shawl be individually packaged in a 2 gallon ziploc bag for ease of distribution. Donations should be sent to:Tawanda Mills General Assembly Local Arrangements 9939 Marsh Pointe Drive Orlando, FL 32832.Please send any questions to ga2009@nazarene.org. Thank you in advance for your help with this much-needed project.“Whenever you did it for any of my people…you did it for me.” Matthew 25:40 (CEV) We Need You!
One of the great needs in helping to facilitate the 27th General Assembly & Conventions is that of ushers and greeters. Ushers and greeters will serve in welcoming fellow Nazarenes at the main entrances, collect the offerings during the worship time, as well as distribute any materials that would be necessary.
If you or members of your church plan to join us in Orlando, Florida, we could use your help in one or more of the services that you are planning to attend. Please take a brief moment to look at the following schedule and let us know where you would like us to plug you in.
We would ask that you report to the services thirty minutes early.
